Unplanned Summer Blogging Sabbatical

Busy times, y’all. The boys and I just returned from a two week trip visiting our friends in Western North Carolina. We got in Sunday and I’m trying to motivate myself to get off the couch and put my house back together.

Instead I’m surfing the Internet and soul searching.

I ran across the following link that I bookmarked months ago. I’m fascinated by creativity and following one’s passion vs. staying safe — often in jobs that are life-sucking. Check it out. Perhaps I’ll write more of my thoughts on it, well, when I get off my ass — that could be a few days, frankly.

I’m finishing up the critically acclaimed book The Interestings by Meg Wolitzer. It’s long, and at first I wasn’t convinced that it lived up to the hype, but it has picked up in the second half, and I’m attached to the characters and don’t want it to end. Anyone else read it? I’d love to hear your thoughts.

At some point I’ll post an update on Gil and me, but I’m content at the moment avoiding things that are emotionally heavy.

What are you enjoying this summer? Reading any good books? Do share

  1. I wish I was reading a good book! I know I’ll get back to them someday but with a tiny baby I find that when I have the free time to read (which is rare) I’d rather sleep. 🙂

    • Yeah, I completely understand. I didn’t read for years. Now it’s sort of my escape. Everything is hard with a tiny baby and a toddler. I swear it gets easier. I also read because I have horrible insomnia — yeah, my kids finally sleep but now I can’t. But I agree, sleep pretty much trumps all.

      • How annoying. I used to have terrible insomnia and I’m afraid it will return once the kids start sleeping, just to mess with me.
